Today I’m linking up with Lisa Leonard for Hello Monday.
I did the dumbest thing of my life yesterday.
I washed my cell phone in the washing machine. After submerging the phone (sans SIM card) in a bowl of rice (where it is currently relaxing, and hopefully recovering) I drowned my sorrow and frustration in chocolate. And for once, chocolate did not make it all better.
So as I wallow in self-pity and mourn the potential loss of my phone, I’ll share the better parts of my weekend.
Hello handsome professor who has been sporting a bow tie recently. Quite the debonair theologian, isn’t he?
Hello my sweet Valentine. A quiet evening at home was just what I needed.
Hello red daisy that has braved the not-so-winter weather and added a brush of color to our otherwise barren flowerbed.
Hello spring-like weather and open windows and porch swing that creaks a perfect country melody. My front porch has been beckoning me to spend some quality time there with a good book and a glass of ice tea.
Hello sweet Frankie. You didn’t seem to enjoy the lovely weekend weather as much as I did.
Hello Big Red, you classic farm truck in need of some minor repairs. I’m so thankful The Professor also knows a thing or two about auto mechanics.
Hello sweet shelf with a sweet Little Golden book c/o Songs Kate Sang. Someday you will be a perfect accent in a wee babe’s nursery.
Hello winter sun sinking low behind the big oak tree. You cast long shadows on our yard, and provide a lovely view out my kitchen window.
Hello obvious truth. Who writes “so true!” in their Bible? It’s all true!

Hello Monday. I’m embracing the opportunity to be a little less plugged in and will try not to fret over my water-logged cell phone.
P.S. Don’t forget to RSVP to this month’s #ARDParty – you don’t want to miss a chance to win a $30 Anthropologie gift card, do you?

ARD: When did you first set goals for your business/blog? How do you hold yourself accountable to accomplish those goals?
AH: I first set goals for my blog in August. I hold myself accountable to accomplishing those goals by #1 telling my husband #2 writing them down and #3 I am part of a mastermind group to keep me accountable. I give myself weekly, monthly, and yearly goals and it’s really rewarding when I can mark off one I’ve accomplished.

bless your sweet little heart and that poor phone ….. my mom has washed three of them prompting Dad to hang a huge poster in the utility room that screams NO PHONES IN WASHER to anyone who enters the back door. I’m loving Professor’s bow tie. I have a student who aspires to be president so he wears a button-down shirt and tie to school EVERY SINGLE DAY. Some of the other students — 8th graders, mind you — have begun to replicate hisfashion ensemble. Happy Monday, Dear. Hope it’s a blessed one!
p.s. I write SO TRUE in my Bible too!!!!!
What’s terrible is that I put the phone in with a load of SHEETS! It wasn’t even in my pockets or anything. I just had it in my hand and tossed it in with the sheets and quilt. Crazy, right?
Gah, I’m so bummed for you about your phone!! To make you feel a little less bummed, here’s a worse/funny story. In college, my best friend would CONSISTENTLY put her cell phone on the sink counter, get in the shower, and her cell phone would ring and vibrate itself into the toilet bowl. She never learned. This happened so many times!
That is SO funny, Kristin! I’ve never dropped my phone in the commode – for which I am so thankful. That just seems so gross to me!!
Hope your phone recovers…that would definitely impact your weekend. Hope the rest of your week goes well!
Hi Nancy! My phone survived – sort of, but was too badly damaged to be worth anything. I had quite a bad attitude about it for about a week, but I’m better now. Thanks for taking time to say hi!
I’m so sorry to hear about your phone. I hope the rice will do the trick. Have a blessed week.
Hi Barbie! Thanks for taking time to say and offer condolences for my phone! Rice DID work! But the battery was too badly damaged to be worth anything. By the end of the week the battery life was down to about an hour and a half.
I’m looking forward to renewing my contract in July and upgrading! Ha!
Oh yikes about the phone! Hopefully it recovers. I also think the bow tie rocks. And LOL, I’ve done the same thing while reading my Bible!
Thanks Jaime!!! I think The Professor rocked that bow tie, and we’ve even gone shopping for some more, but never have found more that we liked!!
Oh my…I hope the rice rescues your phone!! And yes, I would love to share your swing and a glass of sweet tea with you.
Can I come over now?? LOL j/k!
I’m so envious that you can open your windows and think of sitting outside and reading a book. For me a warm day at work is one where you don’t see your breath (for the record, working in an unheated warehouse in Hungary in February does not meet my qualifications of fun).
Mr. E looks dashing in the bow tie and it fits the theologian picture
Hi Esther! Is it warming up for you at all yet? We’ve been running our a/c lately because of how warm it’s been. What a disappointment, right? D has spent most of the afternoon working on the cars – I guess we’re at that time of year where we have to get stuff done before it gets too hot.
Sorry about your phone! Love men that wear bow ties, I am hoping my boys will wear them when they are older! Love all your pictures, thanks for sharing!
Oh my goodness, little guys in bow ties is SUPER sweet!! I hope we have a little man someday so I can dress him in little guy bow ties.
Sweet Post. =) Love the photos.
Thank you sweet lady!
Ah bummer about the phone! UGH so frustrating when that happens! But so glad to see you making it an opportunity to un plug and enjoy Gods beaut all around us.
BTW that photo of you and Professor is SO ADORABLE!
~Maria-Isabel
Awwww!! Thank you so much Maria Isabel!
